Balanced, uniform and consistency are features to look for in each of Sivage Angus sale offerings. Opportunity was another word for this year’s sale considering the many fine females sold in the sale. From the heart of the worst drought area “46% of the buyers were new to our sale,” Bonnie said after the sale. “Half of the cows of my regular customers are gone and our grass is still in need of reduced grazing. God willing our central western South Dakota counties can get some moisture.”

Carcass was a key sale component. Ultrasound data shows the Sivage bulls had ribeyes on average 109% larger than all angus bulls measured in 2003, and 112% of the average for marbling and only 82% for fat of the national average. Heifers averaged 117% for ribeye and 133% for marbling.

A Bushwacker 41-93 son Sivage 250 sold for $2950 1/2 interest and 1/2 possesssion to Bill Heylens of Volga, SD. “250” has a Lucys Boy Dam ratioing 108 on five calves. Weaning weight of 793, yearling of 1206 scrotal of 38 centimeters. BEPD +3.1; WEPD +45, ratioed 112; MEPD +21; and YEPD +77, ratioing 114.

Highest selling bull of the day went to Jim Verneulen of Letcher, SD. $3800 bought 2/3rds interest and full possession in Sivage 200 a direct son of New Design 878 with MGS of FOCUS had a birth weight of 76 and a BEPD of +.8; WN 827, ratio 109; YRL 1243, ratio 110; Ribeye of 15.1 square inches, ratioing 113 with a Rib EPD of I+.54.

Highest selling pair at $2300 was Lot 714 a direct daughter of the great Paramont Ambush with a powerful New Design 878 84 pound bull calf at side. T. J. Gabriel, Deep Creek Angus, Midland, SD, was volume female buyer. T. J. also took home for $2200 Lot 987 from the great female producer Rito 953 with a New Design 878 bull calf at side. Deep Creek Angus also got the high selling heifer calf by Larks Canyon for $1400. T. J. also picked out the biggest calf in the sale on Lot 979, a powerfully muscled Bushwacker 41-93 bull calf sure to grow into a herd sire.

Les Craft of LaPorte, IN, repeat female buyer, took home several pairs and heifers. Pathfinder cow Lot 851 a Bando 598 daughter sold for $2250 and soon to be pathfinder Lot 942 a great New Trend 315 daughter for $2250. The highly stylish New Design 1407 matching heifer pair each went home with Les for $1000 each.

Jeremy Erdman, Lisbon, ND, took home for $3800 a long sided exceptional McCumber 212 Traveler 992, the $13000 top selling McCumber Sale bull in 2000. Sivage’s inherd sire “McCumber 992”s Sivage 285 had a 74 pound birth weight, BEPD of -.5; WN 722; ratio 102; YRL ratio 102. Sivage 285 ratioed 108 and 106 on Ribeye size and Marbling respectively. Erdman also took home 5 pair.

Sivage 292 Focus brought $3200 from Jim Verneulen. A Bon View Bando 598/Lucys Boy Dam combined to produce this fine Focus calf. He had an 80 pound birth weight and carries BEPD OF +.5; WEPD +41 and a ratio of 106; MEPD +23; YEPD +72.

Sivage 269 Bando 854-703 by A Bando 598 son Sivage 854 Bando 598 inherd sire, went to Bruce Murdock, of Hot Springs, SD, for $3000. Long powerful weaning ratioing 112 and yearling ratio 116 characterized this MGS Bon View Emulation EXT 473 sired calf.

Volume bull buyers, Jeff & Jerry Bush of Pierre, SD, took home 6 bulls from 5 sires averaging weaning weights of 760 pounds, yearling weights of 1145 pounds; ribeye size of 13.88 square inches and marbling scores of 4.31 equating into a Choice Grade. A truly outstanding set of matching performance bulls.

Stan Caldwell took home 4 pair with New Design 878, California Future Direction, and McCumber 992 heifer calve’s at side.

Ross Krull, repeat buyer from Harrold, SD, took home 2 outstanding New Design 878 bulls
